CHICAGO — Cavanagh Law Group founder Tim Cavanagh has been named to the 2020 Illinois Super Lawyers list in the field of personal injury law.
It’s the 16th consecutive year Cavanagh was chosen for the exclusive list, which honors the top five percent of attorneys in the state.
Lawyers are selected based on peer nominations, peer evaluations and independent research.
Since founding Cavanagh Law Group in 1997, Cavanagh has obtained more than 60 settlements and verdicts in excess of $1 million for clients in Chicago and across the United States. He has expertise in every area of personal injury law, including medical malpractice, mass transit and semi-truck cases.
In 2002, Cavanagh’s record-breaking $55 million verdict in an Illinois railroad crossing case was recognized by the National Law Journal as one of the Top 100 in the nation. In 2018, Cavanagh obtained a landmark $20 million settlement in a Chicago Police Department “code of silence” case after he uncovered previously hidden evidence during a federal trial. In the last six months, Cavanagh has obtained six multimillion-dollar results, including a $6 million settlement in a premises liability case, a $2.1 million settlement in a trucking case and $3.6 million settlement in a medical malpractice case.
Cavanagh has been selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America© every year since 2015. He has been named an Illinois Leading Lawyer every year since its inception and was twice named one of the top 500 plaintiff lawyers in the country by Lawdragon Magazine.
Cavanagh lives in Chicago with his wife Stacey, a partner at Cavanagh Law Group, and the couple’s six children.
