CHICAGO TRIBUNE: Daughter Wins $2 Million in Suit Over Fatal CPD Chase

Cavanagh Law Group obtained a $2 million verdict for the daughter of a woman who was killed by a speeding motorist during a Chicago Police Department chase that violated department policy.

Dalia Santillana, 51, was killed July 18, 2000, when her car was hit by a car driven by Jesus Gomez, who was fleeing police. Cavanagh Law Group partner Tim Cavanagh proved that under police rules, officers should have abandoned their chase after a different vehicle was struck minutes before the fatal crash.
