Wrongful Death Case v. City of Chicago

Cavanagh Sorich Law Group fought the city of Chicago and won in a “code of silence” case that resulted in a landmark $20 million settlement for two young men killed in a fiery car crash caused by off-duty Chicago Police Department Det. Joseph Frugoli, who was driving drunk.

The detective had a notorious past of drunken misconduct and driving under the influence. Cavanagh Sorich Law Group argued he was allowed to stay on the force despite his checkered past because of the city’s “code of silence,” which assured a lack of consequences. This finally came to a halt as city of Chicago attorneys settled the lawsuit in the midst of closing arguments.
