Attorneys Timothy Cavanagh and Matt Rundio of Cavanagh Sorich Law Group filed a lawsuit on behalf of Robert Rosa and Michael Johnson, two passengers who were seriously injured in a fatal limousine accident on March 25. Rosa, Johnson, and five of their friends were in the limo on their way to O’Hare International Airport for a Mexican vacation.
The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court against Lyons Limousine, comes on the heels of an order by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for the limo company to cease operations for posing “an imminent hazard to public safety.”
The limo driver involved in the crash was Aaron Nash, 20, whose driving record included a license suspension and five traffic offense convictions. According to investigators, Nash said he was blinded by sunlight when driving on the tollway through a construction zone. Lyons Limousine is being prosecuted for employing Nash, whose age, lack of license or commercial license made him unfit to drive a limo.
The crash occurred in Jane Addams Memorial Tollway near Elgin. Rosa was hospitalized with serious spinal injuries. Terri L. Schmidt, another passenger in the vehicle, was killed. Cavanagh Sorich Law Group will pursue damages for negligence.
