CAVANAGH SORICH LAW GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNER

CHICAGO — Veteran personal injury attorney Jason M. Kroot is joining Cavanagh Sorich Law Group as a partner on March 24.

Kroot brings to the firm more than two decades of experience handling complex personal injury and medical malpractice cases in county, state and federal courtrooms. He has secured numerous multimillion-dollar results, including a record-setting $16.3 million verdict for a Cook County woman who suffered permanent brain damage after doctors failed to monitor her vital signs while she was under anesthesia.

“Jason is a talented attorney who has decades of experience representing victims of medical malpractice,” Cavanagh Sorich Law Group founder Tim Cavanagh said. “I’m pleased to welcome him to the firm. Jason will help us continue to serve our growing client base.”

Since graduating from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1999, Kroot has devoted his entire career to personal injury law.

“Cavanagh Sorich Law Group is a highly respected firm that gets outstanding results for their clients,” Kroot said. “I look forward to continuing to litigate personal injury and medical malpractice cases alongside the talented attorneys at one of Chicago’s most prestigious firms.”

Kroot is no stranger to high-profile lawsuits, having obtained settlements in cases that drew considerable media attention, including the 2007 Wrigleyville fire that killed four people. He previously represented the family of a 13-year-old Chicago Public Schools student who died of a severe allergic reaction to peanut product in Chinese food her teacher ordered for the class. Kroot also obtained a settlement in a Riveredge Hospital case after the psychiatric facility housed sexually violent patients alongside mentally ill patients without proper safety precautions in place, resulting in multiple sexual assaults.

Kroot is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He practices in every area of personal injury law and has extensive experience in medical malpractice cases, including those involving birth injuries, misdiagnosis, surgical errors and medication errors.

Kroot said he chose to become a plaintiff’s attorney because he knew he wanted to dedicate himself to helping individuals and their families after a traumatic event in their lives.

“I truly enjoy making a real difference in the lives of the people I represent,” Kroot said. “That is my driving force for every client I represent.”

Kroot earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995. He most recently managed the medical malpractice division at Goldberg, Weisman & Cairo, LTD. He previously worked at Sussman, Selig & Ross.
